"There are many places of power in the world... Yet the most powerful place of all barely draws attention to itself. This is the family home...the cradle of one's future." John O'Donohue
Welcome to my psychotherapy practice.
If you've found yourself here, I'm imagining you might be feeling a bit lost or anxious. You could have a good idea as to what is going on and ready to turn towards it, or you could be in a state of wordless despair, both are very common and extremely normal. There is no 'right' way to be as you consider psychotherapy, instead I invite you to be just as you are and, if we decide to work together, we can start to explore what might be going on.
When growing up, and as we continue in life, it is often necessary to stuff our feelings down, unconsciously defending against whatever feels unacceptable or unbearable. These defences are, in part, very useful as they can help us to avoid situations that provoke unbearable anxieties. However, as we get older, they can also prevent us from living a full and connected life. This could manifest as rageful anger and an inability to acknowledge our hurt or disappointment, or as a default to always 'people please' to protect against being rejected and alone, and anything in between.
These behaviours are often the result of an early unmet need and psychotherapy can help to identify this and find new ways of managing it. This can lead to greater self-awareness, improved self-esteem, positive changes in behaviour and an ability to make meaningful relationships.
I offer a FREE 15-minute introductory call, which gives me an idea of what you are looking for and whether I am able to support you.
During this conversation we will decide whether or not to meet for an introductory session (50 minutes charged at my standard fee). This meeting will give us both an idea of whether we are a 'good fit' for longer-term therapeutic work.
If, following this, we decide to work together, I will offer you a session at the same time and place each week. The ritual of meeting regularly will help to create the relational foundations from which you can start to heal and grow. Life 'out there' will continue to roll forward, and often the same relationships and recurrent experiences will come into the room, and that's ok.
Growth is rarely linear but, as the saying goes, '"you never step in the same river twice" and each session will give you an opportunity to turn towards your experience as you sit in the eternal now. Together we will cultivate an increasingly non-judgemental lens and my intention is to support you in creating a life with more intention and possibility.
My private practice is based in two locations - a dedicated therapy room in my garden south of Devizes and from The Counselling and Psychotherapy Centre in Swindon's Old Town.
Please let me know which might work better for you and I will see if I can help.
I look forward to hearing from you.
